Some people were blessed with blemish-free skin that looks smooth without much effort. Others must invest in expensive skincare and makeup to conceal issues such as pigmentation and redness. This can be quite troublesome for many, especially when you don’t have the time (or skill) for it. In these circumstances, the CUTERA® Excel® V+ laser can be a great ally, as it encourages healthy and clear skin. At Hotchandani Laser, Vein & Cosmetic Surgery, we offer this procedure to women and men looking to address visible skin concerns.
Excel V+ Laser is used extensively by Dr. Hotchandani to resolve spider veins on other areas of the body, mostly legs-eyelids. Spider veins on legs with 1064 wavelength usually require multiple sessions, at times in conjunction with sclerotherapy or micro-phlebectomy to provide broad coverage of spider veins as it is a major concern for our clients.
CUTERA® Excel® V+ laser can address various skin imperfections, meaning that almost anyone can benefit from the procedure. Whether you want to reduce issues like vascular lesions, hyperpigmentation, redness, and even acne scars, CUTERA® Excel® V+ can help improve your skin tone. The procedure is also quite effective for those dealing with rosacea and facial veins, offering a non-invasive solution for smooth skin.
The ideal candidate for CUTERA® Excel® V+ should have realistic expectations of the results. While Excel® V+ has a 50 percent higher output than its predecessor, Excel® V, the treatment works with your body’s healing system. Patients with severe redness and pigmentation might need to commit to multiple treatments to obtain the desired effect.
Patients getting this treatment should not be pregnant or have active skin infections (e.g., severe acne), as this can leave undesirable effects. Certain medications can also increase photosensitivity, so talk with Dr. Hotchandani first. The Excel® V+ laser is adaptable, which means that anyone can try it out, regardless of skin type or tone.
CUTERA® Excel® V+ laser targets thin blood vessels underneath the skin. The treatment uses dual wavelengths (532nm and 1064nm), targeting skin concerns at different depths, depending on their severity. This makes the procedure effective for superficial imperfections and deep-rooted lesions.
Once the laser is applied to the skin, it is absorbed by the melanin or blood vessels (depending on the area you treat). The laser’s energy is ultimately converted into heat, which breaks down the unwanted pigments or blood vessels. After the pigmented cells are separated from the healthy ones, the body will start its natural elimination process, clearing these cells and making space for the healthier ones.
The CUTERA® Excel® V+ laser has an integrated cooling system meant to increase patient comfort. This eliminates the need for anesthesia, which some patients may be sensitive to. The applicators of the treatment can be used to treat small and large areas alike, the adjustable output making them also efficient for sensitive skin.
Exosomes are a cutting-edge advancement in dermatology that offer powerful skin rejuvenation properties. These tiny cells are derived from platelets and include numerous antioxidants and growth factors that can help the skin cells resurface. The treatment also stimulates collagen and elastin production, making it an ideal option for those who seek to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and regenerate the skin’s appearance.
These versatile compounds are often an excellent option to nourish the skin after resurfacing and rejuvenating treatments such as microneedling (e.g., Secret™ RF, Morpheus8™, and EXION™ RF), SmartSkin® CO2, and Excel® V+ laser. With the skin prepped, the exosomes can reach the deeper levels of the skin, improving efficiency while reducing post-procedure redness. The anti-inflammatory procedures make it a good option for treating rosacea and excess redness.
At Hotchandani Laser, Vein & Cosmetic Surgery, we use ( plated )™ Skin Science exosomes with over 1 trillion exosomes per bottle to support the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin and reduce brown spots, dullness and wrinkles.
( plated )™ Skin Science research has been affiliated with Mayo Clinic for over 15 years.
CUTERA® Excel® V+ laser brings little to no downtime, with the side effects more or less resembling a mild sunburn. You might experience minimal swelling and redness, but most symptoms generally fade within 24 hours. Most patients can return to their daily routine immediately, although staying out of direct sunlight and wearing sunblock is recommended. A soothing cream can help manage potential irritation.
Depending on the intensity of the laser and the type of imperfection you address, you might notice some mild bruising or darkening of the pigmented area. This effect is temporary and normal, as it suggests the healing process has started and the skin is ready to remove the damaged cells.
Full recovery depends on what you are treating. For pigmentation, it can take three to seven days for the dark spots to fade, depending on how much melanin there is to break down. Vascular lesions can take up to two weeks to fully fade, although most side effects should be gone within a week.
The Excel® V+ laser can bring near-immediate results, although most are concealed by the recovery symptoms. You should be able to see visible results after a week or two, and your skin quality will keep improving within the following weeks. Textural skin issues caused by collagen loss can take two to three months to reach peak effects, as the protein needs time to mature.
You should see significant improvement after just one treatment, especially when it comes to superficial skin imperfections. For deeper skin issues, you may want to opt for three to six treatments spaced around four to six weeks apart. This break between the sessions will allow the skin to heal effectively. Touch-ups are also recommended once every one to three years to keep the skin clear.
